What we believe.

We believe the best life possible is wrapped up in a relationship with Jesus and God's people. Here's how that breaks down.

The Crossings Church believes that God loves us just the way we are, but loves us too much to leave us that way. Through real involvement in the local church and real relationships with other people chasing Jesus, God will shape us into the people He created us to be. That's the recipe for a good life — and a life God can use to make this messed up world a little bit better.

God

We believe there is one true God that has always been in existence. He is the Lord, Master, and Savior that reigns over the universe. He exists as a divine and holy trinity — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — and it's in those persons that He identifies and connects to us. He is the authentic and original example of love. He sets up times and places for every person so that we can have the opportunity to take part in a personal, eternal relationship with Him.

Jesus

Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God and equal to the Father and the Holy Spirit. He sits at the right hand of His Father but willingly chose to sacrifice His crown to save a corrupt world that couldn't save itself. Jesus came into the world through the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary — entirely human, and entirely holy. He came to seek and save the lost and make disciples of all nations. He lived a blameless life. He was put to death on a cross and accepted that fate so human sin could be forgiven and grace could exist. Three days later, He rose again — defeating death and sin. Because of this, we can choose to have a personal relationship with God and live in His kingdom both on earth and eternally. After a short time on earth, He rejoined the Father in Heaven, and He will return again.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal to God the Father and Jesus of Nazareth. He's present in every believer from the moment of salvation. He's the link that makes it possible for followers of Christ to understand righteous and biblical truth. He gives us the strength and boldness it takes to share with others about past hurts that have been healed and the life transformation that has happened by accepting Christ as the Ruler of our lives. The Holy Spirit gives each person in the body of Christ a spiritual gift that can be used to benefit others and deepen their relationship with God. The Holy Spirit shapes us into holy people the more willing we are to surrender to God's will and purpose.

New Life

We believe God created us in His likeness to have a living relationship with Him. We were made to be relational beings because we were made in His image. Because of human rebellion against God, we end up separated from Him and hopeless. A relationship with Jesus Christ is our only chance at restoring hope. Salvation — the forgiveness of our sins and deliverance by the power of the Spirit of Christ — isn't something we can earn or accomplish. God gifted it to us freely when He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. That gift is called grace, and we receive it when we surrender our lives to Jesus. The biblical picture of surrendering to Christ is Christian baptism — a reenactment of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is God's way of connecting to humanity — revealing His love for us and His character to us. The Bible is authentic, correct, and accurate. We trust and use it to determine how to live our lives and what we believe (doctrine). The Bible has the final authority when it comes to all of our decision-making.
